Productivity Hacks You Could Be Using NOW

Procrastination is one of the biggest obstacles many people face at work.  In fact, studies show that one in five people are chronic procrastinators, and tend to consistently procrastinate in multiple areas of their lives, including work, school, and financial situations.  While some people seem to thrive when rushing to meet a deadline, for many, procrastinating only leads to more stress and anxiety.  If you’re someone who struggles with managing work tasks, here are some productivity hacks you could be using NOW.

Fuel Yourself

You probably already know this, but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.  Eating a well-balanced breakfast is crucial to making sure you are able to perform both physically and mentally throughout the day.  While many people tend to skip breakfast, it’s important to carve out time to eat a nutritious meal in the morning.

In addition to breakfast, snacking is also an important part of keeping your brain fueled throughout the day, as it can provide energy during that midday slump many of us feel.  While it can be easy to reach for whatever unhealthy snack is available at the moment, it is important to make healthy choices when it comes to snacking. Things like healthy snack delivery, meal prepping, and staying hydrated throughout the day are all simple ways to make sure you’re giving your body the fuel it needs to reach maximum productivity and get through the work day.

Organize Your Space

Having a cluttered workspace can make it extremely difficult to focus and get work done, so it’s important to make sure your space is as neat and organized as possible.  If you have a lot of loose paperwork laying around your desk, purchase an inexpensive paper tray or file folder to keep them in order and out of your way. You can also purchase storage bins and other organizational tools to help you arrange things in your office in a way that works for you.

In addition to this, try using a desk lamp to brighten up your space.  Using extra light can also help you focus if you usually work in an area that isn’t well-lit.

Cleaning up your space and adding organizational elements can help you clear your mind and can lend to your overall productivity.

Take Breaks When You Need To

Working straight through the day without taking any breaks can actually decrease productivity, so it is important to take time each day to step away from your desk.  Going for a walk around the block, stretching, and even doing jumping jacks will get your blood pumping and allow you to shake off any pent-up energy.

If you don’t have time to take a substantial break, try holding a walking meeting.  Walking meetings are great for those days when you want to be productive outside of the office.

Incorporating small breaks into your work day can increase productivity and can also be beneficial to your overall health.
