Are you ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with plenty of fireworks and fun? Then you’re in the right place – Orlando, Florida. The home of Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World has plenty of activities planned for the holiday weekend. If you’re unsure of which ones to choose, consider starting with these:
1) See the Cirque du Soleil at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney is currently hosting the La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil show, and it is scheduled for two different days over the Fourth of July holiday weekend – twice on Thursday, July 3rd (6pm and 9pm) and twice on Saturday, July 5th (again, 6pm and 9pm). The show runs for an hour and half each time, and features acrobats, jugglers, clowns, trapeze artists and more, from 15 different countries. This show is aimed for children of all ages, and adults should enjoy it as well. And for the record, “La Nouba” means “The Party.” That should give you a clue as to how much fun you’ll have while watching the show.
2) Enjoy one of the Sounds of Summer Shows at the Epcot Center.
The Sounds of Summer concert series consists of bands that the whole family will enjoy. Two different ones perform over the Fourth of July weekend – Don’t Look Back, a tribute band that specializes in songs by the band Boston, and Stayin’ Alive, a Bee Gees tribute band. Don’t Look Back plays on the 3rd and the 5th of July, while Stayin’ Alive plays on the 6th. All of the shows take place the Epcot World Center in Walt Disney World, and admission to the park is required for entry.
The Blue Man Group has seven shows scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend. They go onstage at 6pm and 9pm on Thursday, July 3rd, Saturday, July 5th, and Sunday, July 6th. They only perform at 6pm on July 4th, leaving you plenty of time to see the show and then go find some fireworks to watch. The Blue Man Group shows takes place at the Universal Studios Orlando CityWalk, and you can purchase the tickets in a package along with admission to the theme park.
4) Sit back and enjoy the fireworks on the Fourth of July.
You have several traditional fireworks shows to choose from in Orlando. The Fireworks at the Fountain show is free to attend. This event starts in the afternoon of the Fourth, with live entertainment, food options, games and other activities, and culminates in a half hour fireworks show as soon as it’s dark enough. It takes place in downtown Orlando, at the intersection of Lake Eola, Eola Drive, and Central Boulevard. Wall Street Plaza, also in downtown Orlando, is throwing a block party on the Fourth of July. Live entertainment and fireworks are a part of the party, which is free to attend. Fireworks will also be set off at Universal Studios CityWalk, and Walt Disney World.
Fireworks and live entertainment are the two hallmarks of any great Fourth of July celebration. The ones taking place over the holiday weekend in Orlando fit into both of these categories. Whether you want to see a live band, watch the Blue Man Group, witness the feats of Cirque du Soleil performers, watch the fireworks go off, or do a combination of all four, the choice is yours!
